GODAFOSS
Godafoss is one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland and is entwinned in Icelandic history. In the year 1000AD, the law speaker of the Icelandic parliment, Thorgeir Ljosvetningagdli was entasked to make a decision on whether on or not Iceland should convert from the Old Norse religion to Christainity.
It is said that he laid under a fur blanket for a day and night in silence to make a decision and he decided that Christianity would be the official religion of Iceland. As a symbol of this he threw the idols of the Old Norse Gods into Gosafoss Waterfall after which it was know as Godafoss or ´Waterfall of the Gods´. This stunning natural waterfall is a ´must see´in North Iceland.
